MEMORANDUM = amended (8115100) 30 <br /> • <br /> DATE: 8/9/00 MEETING DATE: 8/15/00 <br /> TO: Planning Commission <br /> FROM: Assistant City Manager Isom <br /> RE: Public Hearing. Petition for Variance for Replacing a Commercial Sign for a <br /> Gas Station "Grandfathered" in a Light Industrial Zoning District. <br /> The applicant, Richard C. Graff is seeking to replace the business sign at his Conoco gas station located at <br /> 350129'Avenue NE. The gas station is a commercial business located in a L1 zoning district. The proposed <br /> sign is not allowable in L1 zoning. However, it would be allowable, had the City zoned his land been C1. <br /> The land has been used for a gas station since 1958. Mr. Graff has owned the business since 1973. Therefore <br /> the use is "grandfathered." Staff has discussed this matter with City Attorney Soth and it was decided that the <br /> conditions supporting a variance do exist.
