• MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: February 2 , 1983 <br /> TO: David Childs , City Manager <br /> Department Heads <br /> FROM: Connie Kroeplin, Secretary <br /> . SUBJECT: Staff Meeting Notes - February 1 , 1983 <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> The meeting began at 9 : 40 A.M. Those present were : Larry Hamer, Lee <br /> Entner , Don Hickerson, Ray Nelson, Dave Childs and Connie Kroeplin. <br /> Carol Johnson was absent. <br /> Don Hickerson had copies of the Police Department's 1982 Annual Re- <br /> port, which will be on the Council ' s February 8th agenda. He noted <br /> there had been a decrease in several types of crimes , among them <br /> were DWI ' s and vandalism. <br /> Chief Hickerson also stated the physicals for the health fitness <br /> program will begin upon receipt of a format for the blood work and <br /> physicals from Health Fitness , Inc. <br /> • Lee Entner demonstrated a new type of blood pressure machine. A <br /> stethascope is not needed when this unit is used.. He said the fire- <br /> men. appeared to like using the machine. He received three of them. <br /> gratis . <br /> Daily operation for the Civil Defense emergency plan should be ready. <br /> in 1983 . Chief Entner and Mr. Childs indicated there will be future <br /> meetings on this plan in the future. <br /> Larry Hamer described a light machine and its uses for those present. <br /> The machine was developed by Harry Werlein and Herman Weber , Public <br /> Works personnel , at a large cost savings . It has lights on both sides <br /> and its basic use would be for .water breaks as a traffic directional <br /> aide, however, Mr. Hamer said it's capable for use as lighting during <br /> other types of emergencies . Hence, he feels it would be a good idea <br /> for the Police and Fire personnel to become knowledgeable of its <br /> mechanizations . <br /> Mr. Hamer also discussed. rescue procedures if someone should ever be <br /> trapped in a sewer. He indicated he had attended a school for persons <br /> in this sometimes hazardous occupation and the question had been <br /> posed there. <br /> Repair on the squad cars was also briefly discussed. It was also <br /> mentioned the Police Department's new squad car should be here some- <br /> time in March. <br />
