Childs :
I enjoyed meeting with you on October 7 , 1982 , to discuss
the possibility of our firm obtaining the Prosecution Contract
for the City of St . Anthony. Pursuant to our phone conversation
of December 1 , 1982 , you informed me that the City of St. Anthony
has decided to retain the Dorsey firm as Prosecutor for the City
of St . Anthony for calendar year 1983.
You informed me that the Dorsey firm made a very lucrative
• offer to the City of .St . Anthony , in that the firm would handle
prosecutions for a maximum billing of $1 ,500.00 a month.
I have discussed that amount with my partner, Mr. Doran,
and we would make the following offer to the City of St . Anthony
at this time. If the Prosecution Contract was awarded to the
law firm of Johnson & Doran for the calendar year of 1983 , we would
take that contract on an hourly basis of $60 .00 an hour with
a maximum ceiling of $15 ,000 .00 a year . That could mean a
savings of $3 ,000 .00 to the City of St. Anthony.
With my 711 years experience as a Special Assistant Attorney
General assigned to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety,
and Mr. Doran' s 16 months of experience in the same area, we
feel that we would be offering the City of St . Anthony needed
prosecution experience with a cost savings of $3 ,000 .00.
We await your response regarding our offer. Thank you
for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
__Bernard..E. Johnson - _
BEJ:vau
cc: Councilman George E. Marks
