February 23, 1984 <br /> JOINT SCHOOL BOARD/CITY COUNCIL MARKETING COMMITTEE REPORT <br /> In these times of state and federal cutbacks and a national Beeline <br /> of sc hool age population, competition for community esteem and school <br /> prosperity becomes keen. Cities and school districts must be involved <br /> In the -business of-selling themselves to insure continual growth in areas _ <br /> of economic development, population and education. <br /> Acting on recommrendations-from-the St. Anthony New Brighton School <br /> Futures Committee, a point City/School Marketing Committee was formed to <br /> r <br /> explore the following goals: <br /> 1 . Create an individual community identity <br /> 2. Increase outside awareness of St. Anthony and School District 282 <br /> 3. Increase community awareness of City and School District programs <br /> 4. Increase resident involvement in the City and School District <br /> 5. Identify possible areas of economic development <br /> 6. Identify possible areas of population .growth <br /> In January, 1984, the City of St. Anthony/School District 282 Joint <br /> Marketing Committee conducted two separate surveys. The committee was <br /> assisted by the St. Anthony League of Women Voters. The two surveys polled <br /> 600 randomly selected residents to find out how St. Anthony is perceived <br /> as a city, community, business district and school district. 312 surveys <br /> i <br /> -were returned. <br />
