Agenda Item:' Reports-4a Status: Informational MEMORANDUM DATE: August 23, 1984 TO: David Childs, City Manager Department Heads FROM: Connie Kroeplin, Administrative Secretary i SUBJECT: Staff Meeting Notes - August 22, 1984 The staff meeting began at 9:15 A.M. Those present were Don Hickerson, Carol Johnson, Lee Entner, Connie Kroeplin, Larry Hamer and Dave Childs. Ray Nelson was absent. A slide .show with sound track of the April 26th tornado has been prepared by Chief Entner. Time would not permit a showing during the staff meeting, but has been scheduled to be shown to the City Manager, department heads and staff on the day of the next staff meeting, as well as a future Council meeting. Jay Olson, the new full time firefighter will be introduced to the City Council and sworn in by the City Clerk at the Council 's August 28th meeting. The Fire Department has added four new reserves who will be invited to that meeting al.so. Carol Johnson will attend the Region IV City Clerks conference in Stillwater, Minnesota on August 24th. Larry Hamer said the Public Works mechanic has spent many hours trying to repair squad car, unit #2, and suggested a solution to retaining the use of more than one squad while the squad's problems are being analyzed. Chief Hickerson. indicated another of the squads is having electrical trouble. The City has been responsible for the Community Center's maintenance for the last couple of weeks there is noticeable improvement throughout the building. At the present time, the City has one full time, one temporary and one MEED person working from 12 midnight to 8 A.M. Tom McMullen, Community Services Director, has requested an additional man to work during the day for lunchroom cleanup. Mr. Hamer indicated the City does not intend to hire another person and will , instead, attempt to use a MEED employee, perhaps only during certain times during the day. Mr. Hamer also noted the bids for reroofing the reservoir will be presented for Council approval at their August 28th meeting. The Police Department is preparing to present a robbery seminar for Twin City Federal , Midwest Federal and City banks. Chief Nickerson indicated the robbery. suspect of Dahl Pharmacy has been apprehended.
