The City of Roseville, through its Ad Hoc Speedskating Committee, plans to submit a proposal that the ! facility be located in Roseville, preferably on the Woodview site on Larpenteur Avenue east of Dale Street. t I If such a facility is completed, it will indeed be a very big j • boost for skaters in the seven-county metropolitan area, as well as all skaters in the five-state area, in preparing them for future national , j world and Olympic competitions. i We are seeking your support for our proposal and are enclosing a I sample resolution for your consideration and adoption. i In seeking your endorsement, we call your attention to the following: ` 1. The Woodview site is strategically located in the seven-county metropolitan area. 2. The site has convenient highway access, being in close proximity to highways I-35W, 36 and I-35E. 3. The largest local concentration of speedskaters is in the City of St. Paul and northern suburbs. This area has produced eight' of the twelve local speedskaters currently on the national team. 4. The City of Roseville is willing to support the operation and maintenance of the facility initially until other sources of funding can be found. 5. Roseville is conveniently 1'ocated near the University of Minnesota and other educational facilities that will permit skaters to train while they are attending school .
