AND STINSON BOULEVARD PROJECT ( 1987 )
The engineering staff at Columbia Heights wants to file for a variance
with Minnesota State Aid to reconstruct 37th Avenue N.E. from
the required 46 foot design to a 44 foot road curb to curb.
Columbia Heights needs a resolution so stating from St. Anthony.
The plans and specification are not completed as of yet and the
projected cost to the City will concern only a small portion of
the intersection which is in very poor condition.
I have filed with the MSA office for an MSA project number ( 161-105-02 )
so they know our interest in possibly using State Aid money on the
project, and so all the allocation is not encumbered by neighboring
communities.
The Minneapolis engineering department contacted me as to the
possibility of installing a signal light at that intersection. I
talked to Columbia Heights engineering regarding the request. I
told Columbia -Heights unless Minneapolis can come up with cause
for the signal, I would have to recommend to the St. Anthony City
Council that the signal light be deleted from the plans. Columbia
Heights engineering agrees that a signal at that location is not
warranted.
I will bring a traffic accident ratic and traffic counts to the
Council meeting.
LH:cjk
cjk: 1. 27 . 87
