MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE : January 20, 1987 <br /> TO : David Childs, City Manager <br /> Department Heads <br /> FROM : Connie Kroeplin,' Administrative Secretary <br /> I T E M : STAFF MEETING NOTES - JANUARY 20, 1987 <br /> The meeting began at 10:05 A.M. Those present were Larry Hamer, Lee Entner, Don <br /> Nickerson, Carol Johnson, Dave Childs, and Connie Kroeplin. Ray Nelson was <br /> absent. <br /> Connie Kroeplin <br /> 1. Asked Mr. Childs to elaborate on the discussion at the last Council meeting <br /> regarding a monthly newsletter for the residents. <br /> Mr. Childs explained he has been directed to check into the costs for such <br /> a project (printing, etc. ) and asked if each Department Head would be able to <br /> submit an article or so a month. Some Department Heads thought they could; <br /> some felt it would be difficult to do. <br /> • David Childs <br /> 1. Responded to a question for Chief Entner about where each of the departments <br /> stood in settling their union contracts. Mr. Childs said police, fire, and <br /> public works are headed for mediation and he would be meeting with the liquor <br /> union rep today (January 20th) . <br /> Larry Hamer <br /> 1. Asked Mr. Childs about a policy regarding donating sick leave among City <br /> employees. Mr. Childs responded by saying the Council does not want to <br /> establish a set policy in this regard, but instead prefers to handle each <br /> situation as it arises. <br /> 2. Noted the retirement party for Herman Weber and Jerry Sauer was a success. <br /> Both men had several family members in attendance; the meal was excellent; <br /> and a "program" was presented where both of the men were given gifts from <br /> their fellow employees and presented retirement plaques by the Mayor. <br /> Lee Entner <br /> 1. - The joint powers agreement concerning a hazardous waste vehicle has been <br /> reviewed by the City Attorney and will be presented to the Council at <br /> their next meeting. <br /> 2. The defective equipment which was causing the alarms to sound at St. Charles <br /> was discovered and is being corrected. <br /> 3 A .meeting with other City Department Heads and the City Manager regarding <br /> the 'emergency preparedness plan will be held January' 27th. <br />
