• <br /> POLL WORKERS: <br /> A complete precinct - totals .Poll workers must manually add- <br /> report - is automatically together the totals - from the <br /> generated by the single machines in their polling place <br /> OPTECH .III-Peat each poll . in addition to manually counting <br /> Only. Write-in ' s are manually the absent voter ballots . Write- <br /> tallied . in votes must also be counted . <br /> * .Voting booths may be stacked in a. manner which most cost <br /> effectively :utilizes vertical . space. One .booth requires only 3 .8 <br /> square feet of floor space. <br /> The security container of one OP-TECH III-P system will be designed <br /> to accommodate up to 4 ,000 voters depending upon the ballot size, <br /> and will replace the two or three mechanical voting machines on , <br /> which voters previously cast their ballots . <br /> It is recommended voting booths be placed in the precincts in a <br /> ratio. of one voting booth for every .10.0 to 150 voters . A typical <br /> polling place will have 6-10 voting booths . to conveni-ently <br /> accommodate the voters on election day. <br /> Poll workers will perform basically the same duties in the polling <br /> places as always with the exception that they will issue the voter <br /> a ballot and a marking pen . A demonstration on the correct method <br /> of properly marking the ballot will be continuously performed as <br /> ,the voters -enter the polling place r <br /> E Upon -.proper. qualification and required check-in procedures , a .voter <br /> would be issued a -ballot and mar.king. pen and directed to go to any <br /> of the available voting booths . When the voters have successfully <br /> completed marking their ballot they are instructed to place their <br /> ballot- in the secrecy sleeve provided and insert the ballot into <br /> the OPTECH III-P ballot tabulator . As the voter inserts the ballot <br /> from the .secrecy sleeve, it is scaned on both sides of- the ballot <br /> for .marked votes , count all valid .-votes , advance the public -counter <br /> and deposit the counted ballot in the appropriate compartment of <br /> . the ballot - box . There -will be an attendant. stationed at the OPTECH <br /> III-P ballot tabulator . <br /> -Detailed •pr:ocedure.s €or. :closing th e, polls ' and obtaining. the.,results <br /> . .will .be addressed . in .the training. program. It .is sufficient to say, <br /> that precinct r.esults-.wil:l .be obtained quickly and easily: from the- <br /> ORTE•CH' III=P .p.r. i•nt -out . :An added feature. of the::OPTECH : III-P <br /> system is-:that. .three. audit trails are ,available: ; one- is- the voted <br /> ballots; two -is -the:=:pr.intout and the 'third, is the memory pack. <br />
