1 -4- • <br /> 2 <br /> 3 'indicated the Public Works Director had.- looked at the <br /> 4 drainage plan and. had no problems with it; <br /> 5 <br /> 6 -drew the Council' s attention to the fact that ,there was a <br /> 7 swale between proposed Lots 3 and 4 which would carry runoff <br /> 8 west to Belden Drive and another between Lots. 1 and 2 to <br /> 9' drain east to Silver Lake Road; <br /> 10 <br /> 11 -reported he had checked the tape of the May 19th Commission <br /> 12 had intended that "substantial conformance with the grading <br /> 13 plan had meant within 1 to 2 feet of final grade except for <br /> 14 the northeast lot for which 5 feet, and not 3 feet. as recol- <br /> 15 lected -by the applicant, would be required; _ <br /> 16 <br /> 17 -added that because the Larwick property adjacent to that <br /> 18 particular lot had not yet been developed, he assumed that <br /> 19 parcel grade would also have to be cut down. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Mr. Childs' statement that between 8 ,000 and 10, 000 yards of dirt would <br /> 22 have to be removed from the existing hill on the Evanson property and <br /> 23 that it appeared only one tree along the south side might 'be saved, <br /> 24 evoked the following response: <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Ranallo: -wondered if some of the trees could be moved to the .City' s <br /> 27 tree farm-; <br /> 28 <br /> 29 -was told by Chris Paidosch, who is interested in develop- <br /> 30 ing the lot in the southwest corner of the parcel, that most <br /> 31 of the trees were "scrub" , which had been well pruned and one <br /> 32 of the most substantial was a cottonwood tree "which no one <br /> 33 wants." <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Marks -said one of the bushes is one of a few like it in that area <br /> 36 which gives off "incredibly sweet aromas" for about a week <br /> 37 each spring; <br /> 38 <br /> 39 -expressed his own disappointment to see that, with the level <br /> 40 of grading called for in this plan, the possibility of in <br /> 41 novative housing like earth sheltered homes or multi-level <br /> 42 dwellings, which could take advantage of the existing view <br /> 43 of the Minneapolis skyline, had been foreclosed; . <br /> 44 <br /> 45 ---was told by- Mr. Childs, strenuous objection to retention to <br /> 46 the hill could be expected from both the neighbors to .'the <br /> 47 north and south of this parcel who have been waiting about <br /> 48 2® years for that hill to .be .cut down. <br /> 49 <br /> 50 Kurt <br /> 51 Mathys -indicated he wanted a "flat lot" and was interested in buy- <br /> 52 ing the northeast lot on Silver Lake Road next to the <br /> 53 Larwick property. <br /> 54 <br />
