The homeowner <br /> 24 asked if the City could inspect -basements and force the disconnection of <br /> 25 . drain tiles from the sanitary sewer system. <br /> 26 Mr. Hamer: -indicated the .current , City Ordinance absolutely requires <br /> 27 all drain tiles in new structures to be - diverted outside the <br /> 28 house and not into the sanitary sewers; <br /> 29 -told Councilmember Ranallo it would almost be impossible to <br /> 30 tell whether older systems were incorrectly connected <br /> 31 because the non-conforming connections are buried under <br /> 32 floors or around the foundation; <br /> 33 <br /> 34 -added that his department could identify those -systems by <br /> 35 the clear water running out of homes during a heavy rain- <br /> 36 fall which appear on. the screen when his men are televising <br /> 37 for cracks in the underground sewer systems'; <br /> 38 -indicated there might be some legal problems connected with <br /> 39 blowing -smoke through the sewer lines as some communities <br /> 40 have done; <br /> -agreed that.-the-charges from the Metro Waste Control 'Commis- <br /> sion proved the- City- has a problem- with .too-. much rainwater <br /> 43 passing through the .-sanitary . sewer :system resulting in the <br /> 44 <br />
