5. Street construction, planned by Columbia Heights, on 37th <br /> from Stinson west to - Central will be delayed until 1988. <br /> Carol Johnson <br /> 1. Mrs. Johnson made two short-term investments, totalling <br /> $400,000, which are monies over and above the normal <br /> investments due to first half tax receipts. <br /> 2. Discussed raising revenues by increasing charges in the fol- <br /> lowing areas: <br /> a. sewer/water connections; <br /> b. special assessment searches; <br /> C. police and fire report copies; <br /> d. . residential and commercial variances; <br /> e. include apartment vending machines (washers/dryers) ; <br /> f. suggested assessing sealcoating and curb/gutter repairs <br /> to property owners (Columbia Heights does this, as does <br /> other communities) ; <br /> g. charge for street lighting. For example, eacfi- water <br /> bill would include the additional charge, i.e. , $3 <br /> ( $1.00 a month) . <br /> 3. Lighting for the tennis courts was also discussed. Some of • <br /> the lights have not been functioning recently because the <br /> cashboxes have been vandalized and cannot be repaired. It <br /> was suggested that the City install a timer and perhaps <br /> consider not charging the users. <br /> Dave Childs <br /> 1. The annual fitness testing has been completed and the police <br /> and fire personnel came through with flying colors. Every- <br /> one improved over the last test with the exception of three. <br /> Health Fitness will submit a report about mid-August. <br /> 2 . It appears Mannings are very interested in a restaurant at <br /> the Stonehouse. Their lawyer has sent a proposed lease to <br /> City Attorney Soth to review, according to Mr. Nelson. <br /> 3 . Chief Entner and Mr. Hamer are gathering ballpark figures <br /> for the inclusion of the Fire Department in the Parkview <br /> facility. Costs are needed for installing doors, new floor-, . <br /> electrical, mechanical, offices, activities room., dormitory, <br /> kitchen, lounge, meeting room, etc. <br /> 4. . Repairs to the Foss Road Lift Station, which costs will run <br /> about $200,000 , will be presented to the Council by the <br /> engineer- at their August 11th meeting. Sewer charges will • <br /> need to be increased to help with the cost. <br />
