City Manager <br /> Department Heads <br /> FROM: Connie Kroeplin <br /> ITEM: STAFF MEETING NOTES - DECEMBER 2 , 1987 <br /> The staff meeting -began at 2 : 10- P.M. . Present were David Childs, <br /> Carol Johnson, Lee Entner, Larry Hamer, Don Hickerson, and Connie <br />-- -Kroeplin. Ray= Nelson was absent. - - - <br /> Dave Childs <br /> 1 . Plans for the upcoming City employee Christmas party are <br /> progressing well. The invitations have been sent, food, <br /> music , and bartender have been taken. car.e of and the door <br /> prizes are being checked on. <br /> 2 . The draft copy of the community survey questions has been . <br /> distributed, feedback received and the final draft will be <br /> ready Friday to. be reviewed at the Council' s -December 8th <br /> meeting. Mr. Childs indicated the final can still be <br /> changed at that time. <br /> 3 . Mr. Childs continues to meet .with school officials ,regarding <br /> Parkview and gave a summary of the proposals to date. <br /> The school has offered Parkview to the City- but <br /> would like to stay there for a -period of time ( rent free) - <br /> and retain the gymnasium and adjacent rooms until March, <br /> 1989 . Before the City makes a final decision on Parkview, . a <br /> consulting firm will assess and analyze the. .City' s options. <br /> 4 . Mr. Childs also met with the Army to discuss the City' s <br /> water contamination problems. They are checking the City' s <br /> costs , while not. admitting any liability. at this time, they <br /> have agreed if they are liable,. they will pay the City' s <br /> costs incurred by- the contamination. <br /> New Brighton received $9 million in their settlement. The <br /> Army will build and operate a carbon filtration plant, but <br /> wants New Brighton to open its shallow wells, :rather than <br /> use its non-contaminated. deep wells . <br /> Don Hickerson <br /> 1 . - Has several items,: for the December 8th Council agenda: <br />
