in a public place, in the residence of another without <br /> their permission, or in the passenger compartment of <br /> a motor vehicle, within the City of St . Anthony. <br /> Subdivision 3 . Transportation of Weapon . A weapon may <br /> be transported in a motor vehicle only if it is : ( 1) <br /> a firearm which is unloaded and in a gun case expressly <br /> made to contain a firearm, and the case fully encloses <br /> the firearm by being zipped, snapped, buckled, tied, <br /> or otherwise fastened, and without any portion of the <br /> firearm exposed, and is in the closed trunk of the motor <br /> vehicle, (2 ) a weapon other than a firearm which is in <br /> a fastened container in the closed trunk of a motor vehicle, <br /> or ( 3) a handgun carried in compliance with Minnesota <br /> Statutes, Sections 624 . 714 and 624 . 715. <br /> Subdivision 4 . Discharge of Firearm. No person in any <br /> public or private place shall shoot or discharge any <br /> firearm, as defined in this Section, whether it is loaded <br /> with powder, blank cartridges or any other explosive, <br /> bullet, pellet, or shot, without prior authorization <br /> from the Chief of Police. <br /> Subdivision 5. Exceptions . This Section shall not apply <br /> . to the discharge of a firearm in the lawful defense of <br /> person, property, or family, or in the necessary enforcement <br /> of law. This Section shall not apply to law enforcement <br /> officers, military personnel while on duty, or to possession <br /> of handguns or pistols permitted under Minnesota Statutes, <br /> Sections 624 .711 through 624 .717 . <br /> Subdivision 6 . Confiscation. Any weapon adjudged by <br /> any Court of competent jurisdiction to have been worn, <br /> carried, possessed, used or handled in violation of any <br /> ordinance or state statute, may be confiscated and disposed <br /> of by the Chief of Police, who may provide for its sale, <br /> destruction or other disposition. <br /> Subdivision 7 . Use of Bow and Arrow. It is unlawful <br /> for any person to shoot a bow and arrow in the City, <br /> except in the physical education program of a school <br /> supervised by a member of the school ' s faculty, or in <br /> a community-wide supervised class or event specifically <br /> authorized by the Chief of Police. <br /> Section 2 . Section 930 of the 1973 St . Anthony Code <br /> of Ordinances is repealed. <br /> • - 2 - <br />
