The Manager speculated now that they <br /> 18 know St. Anthony water is again as pure and drinkable as it was <br /> 19 before it was contaminated by runoff from the arms plant, people from <br /> 20 outside the City might again be showing up at the fire station with <br /> • 21 containers to get St. Anthony water. <br /> 22 Staff had been able to negotiate the waiver necessary to meet H.U.D. <br /> 23 restrictions on the $150,000 CDBG funding for the project, Mr. Childs <br /> . 24 added. <br /> 2-5 He was shooting for a christening ceremony with toasts in water <br /> 26 rather than champagne to be held just before the Council's July 26th <br /> 27 meeting, the Manager said. He hoped the occasion would merit the <br /> 28 amount of media attention it deserved because the "City is at last <br /> 29 able to tell its residents and the whole world that St. Anthony once <br /> 30 again has good drinking water to offer its residents. " <br /> 31 Manager's Report Hits Intended Target <br /> 32 Copies of his latest Downgradient report had been distributed to the <br /> 33 Council and Mr. Childs reported satisfaction with the report he had <br /> 34 from the New Brighton Manager that the Army had not been too happy <br /> 35 to see his comments on the City's frustration with the Army's <br /> 36 footdragging related to a resolution of the City's water contamina- <br /> 37 tion problems.
