CHEM COUNCIL <br /> St. Anthony/New Brighton Chemical Health Environmental Management Council <br /> • 3303 Thirty-third Avenue Northeast •St. Anthony Village, Minnesota 55418 <br /> COMMITTEE MEETING August 16, 1988 <br /> ATTENDANCE: Jack Baker Shelley Freeman Rosemary Hannan <br /> John Pugleasa Michelene Verlautz <br /> CALL TO ORDER: The St. Anthony/New Brighton C.H.E.M Council met on August <br /> 16, 1988 at SAV Middle School. The meeting-was called to order. at 8:00 pm. by <br /> President, John Pugleasa. <br /> MINUTES: The minutes of the June 21 meeting were approved. In the Secretary's <br /> absence, John recorded the minutes. ; <br /> TREASURER'S REPORT: Balance of $433.25. The cost of new letterhead and <br /> envelopes was $60. Discussion re: high cost of checking account now running about <br /> $9 per month. Jack Baker mentioned that it may be wise to incorporate to avoid <br /> these charges, He will explore what this will take and report at our next meeting. <br /> • Shelley Freeman will ask St. Anthony School District business manager about <br /> options re: checking account. <br /> D.A.R.E.: Shelley and John reported on meeting with St. Anthony police chief, Don <br /> Hickerson. Based on this information they suggested supporting a prevention <br /> program involving less time commitment by the police department. Shelley also <br /> mentioned that she recently purchased a. new drug prevention curriculum for <br /> grades K- 12 in the St. Anthony School District. Shelley will follow-up on this at <br /> next meeting. <br /> INSURANCE ISSUES: John will contact Evelyn Holthus and discuss options we <br /> could take in pursuing this issue. <br /> SCHOOL RULES: Shelley and John discussed growing problems school and police <br /> officials are experiencing with clarifications of what can and cannot be done with <br /> regard to enforcement of school rules and city ordinances respectfully. <br /> NEXT MEETING: Michelene Verlautz will contact a New Brighton police <br /> officer to be present at the next meeting. Shelley will contact a St. <br /> Anthony officer and city attorney.
