The specific objectives of the TIF District ar-e as <br /> follows: <br /> 1 . To provide financing so that blighted, vacant land <br /> can be developed for, housing; <br /> 2. To provide opportunities for- the development of <br /> land within the TIF District; <br /> 3. To increase the supply of housing; <br /> 4. To preserve and enhance the quality of life of the <br /> City by providing a range of housing opportunities; <br /> 5. To provide maximum opportunity, consistent with the <br /> needs of the City, for development by private <br /> enterprise; <br /> 6. To alleviate a shortage of decent, safe, and <br /> sanitary housing; <br /> 7. To .create employment; and <br /> 8. to provide decent, safe, and sanitary urban <br /> dwellings, apartments, or• other, living <br /> accommodations for persons of moderate income or, <br /> for- veterans and servicemen and the ir• families <br /> pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 469.002. <br /> 6. CLASSIFICATION OF THE TIF DISTRICT <br /> The T-IF District will encourage the redevelopment of a <br /> substandard area which would not be developed without <br /> assistance. It will result in increased housing in the <br /> City, and it will result in the pr•eser•vation and <br /> enhancement of the tax base of the City. <br /> 6 <br />
