He was informed that the ordinance only allows
more than two dogs by City Council approval.
I requested from the Council at the October 24, 1989 meeting how to
proceed with this issue. The Council asked that the neighbors be
notified and their comments obtained.
On October 25, 1989 a letter was sent and the responses obtained are
attached.
Mr. Hodges' dogs include a 7 year old Golden Retriever, a 4 year old
Springer and a 16 month old Black Lab. All three dogs are trained or
in the process of training and are indoor animals.
The property at 3209-36th Avenue N.E. is fenced and Mr. Hodges intends
to construct a privacy fence as well .
In addition, Mr. Hodges has provided the City with a book of pictures
of the three dogs and letters from his former neighbors. This book.will
be available for your review at the Council meeting.
Finally, the pertinent ordinance is attached for your .review. It
should be noted that the ordinance does not absolutely prohibit the
owning or keeping of three dogs, it only states that a person must first
have Council approval to do so.
Mr. Hodges will be present to answer any questions you may have.
:cjkll. 28.89
