HOUSING CODE COMPLIANCE <br /> The Fire Department for the past two years has been charged with enforcing the Housing <br /> Code. The career personnel of the department all participate in Code Enforcement. Code <br /> Enforcement for the most part is a reactionary activity, although the crews due tour <br /> portions of the Village on Fridays during the summer season when Yard and garage sales <br /> are prevalent. (Due to the change in Fire Administration, data is only available from May <br /> 1,2000 through years end.)In 2000,the department handled over 74 documented <br /> violations and many violations by taking down a sign or stopping by a property and <br /> discussing an observed violation. <br /> The department has this past year has created A complaint form used by City Hall office <br /> staff and our personnel for documenting a complaint. This complaint is then registered on <br /> a log and assigned a case number. This assists us in tracking complaints and their status. <br /> Fire Administration has drafted a policy and procedure to refine the documentation, <br /> consistency of applying the code and resolving a complaint. This policy and procedure <br /> when adopted will provide a process in resolving code violations: <br />
