Crime Prevention Annual Report
Prepared by Officer Mark Mosby
The year is coming to an end and the public interest in neighborhood watch continues to
wane with.the cold weather. There were seventeen (17) block parties for"National Night
Out" this year on 08-01-00. That was a small increase from last year's totals. Several
block parties were organized for other dates and I personally attended four of them and
discussed crime prevention programs available to citizens. Carol Anne Clark organized
the largest of these parties at Autumn Woods. Approximately 45 residents attended a
presentation I gave reference current crime issues and-how to take steps to reduce the
chance of victimization.
The Bike Patrol was a big hit with area residents this year. I attended three major"Bike
Rodeos" (St. Charles Borromeo School, Kiwanis/Lions Bike-O-Rama, and the St.
' Anthony Fire Department's Safety Camp). These consisted of a verbal presentation on
bike safety, followed by a question and answer session. The children's bicycles were
' inspected for safety equipment and/or flaws and helmets were adjusted for proper fit.
After the children passed these portions, they took part in a safety course designed by the
bike patrol officers, myself included.
' I took part in the St. Anthony Town Meeting held on May 30`". I gave a brief description
of recent crime trends in the area of how citizens could take a few steps to make this past
summer safer. I also highlighted crime prevention programs our department offers,
' including the brand new"Watch Your Car" program, which replaced the old "C.A.T."
program (Combat Auto Theft).
' I also had the chance to write the summer 2000 version of the department's Crime Watch
Bulletin. The "Watch Your Car" program was highlighted and I gave several other free
' or inexpensive ways to protect vehicles.
1
11
1
