HOBO) <br /> This sign request is for three signs at the location of the Mr. Hobo Restaurant on <br /> Kenzie Terrace. <br /> y As you can see from the Notice of Hearing and the attached letter and plans, the <br /> applicants are requesting a considerable variation from the provisions of the Sign <br /> Ordinance. They are requesting three signs with total sign surface area of 259 square <br /> feet, where the Sign Ordinance allows one sign and 100 square feet of sign surface <br /> area. <br /> In the past, a second sign has been allowed by variance on corner businesses, but usually <br /> with total sign surface area not to exceed what would be allowed for one sign - in this <br /> case 100 square feet. <br /> We applicant appears to be trying to attract .Highway 88 traffic and thus feels that a <br /> larger sign is needed to do so. <br /> I recommend that based on the corner configuration, that only two signs be allowed and <br /> that their total area be only about 100 square feet or so. <br /> One suggestion would be the reader board 32 square feet and a 3 foot X 25 foot wall <br /> sign and remove the old Mr. Hobo roof sign. <br /> y <br /> :cjk11.17.87 <br /> t <br />
