City of Saint Anthony Housing Maintenance Ordinance Draft Number 1 -- November 10, 1991 Page Number 6 1 MAINTENANCE OF SHARED OR PUBLIC AREAS. Every owner of a dwelling 2 containing two or more dwelling units shall maintain in a clean and sanitary condition the 3 shared or public areas of the dwelling and premises thereof. 4 5 MAINTENANCE OF OCCUPIED AREAS. Every occupant of a dwelling, dwelling unit 6 or rooming unit shall maintain in a clean and sanitary condition that part or those parts of 7 the dwelling, dwelling unit and premises thereof that he/she occupies and controls. 8 9 STORAGE AND DISPOSAL OF RUBBISH AND RECYCLABLES. Every occupant 10 of a dwelling, dwelling unit or rooming unit shall store and dispose/recycle of all his/her 11 rubbish and recyclables in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner as prescribed by Chapter### 12 of the City Ordinances. 13 14 STORAGE AND DISPOSAL OF GARBAGE. Every occupant of a dwelling, dwelling unit 15 or rooming unit shall store and dispose of all his/her garbage and any other organic waste 16 which might provide food for insects and/or rodents in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner 17 as prescribed by Chapter ### of the City Ordinances. 18 19 RESPONSIBILITY FOR STORAGE AND DISPOSAL OF GARBAGE AND 20 RUBBISH/RECYCLABLES. Every owner of a multiple family dwelling shall supply 21 facilities for the sanitary and safe storage and/or disposal of garbage and rubbish/recyclables. 22 In the case of single or two-family dwellings, it shall be the responsibility of the occupant to 23 furnish such facilities. 24 25 RESPONSIBILITY FOR STORM AND SCREEN DOORS AND WINDOWS. T h e 26 owner of a rental dwelling unit shall be responsible for providing and hanging all screens and 27 storm doors and storm windows whenever the same are required under the provisions of this 28 ordinance. 29 30. RESPONSIBILITY FOR PEST EXTERMINATION. Every occupant of a dwelling 31 containing a single dwelling unit shall be responsible for the extermination of vermin 32 infestations and/or rodents on the premises. Every occupant of a dwelling unit in a dwelling 33 containing more than one dwelling unit shall be responsible for such extermination whenever 34 his/her dwelling unit is the only one infested. Notwithstanding, however, whenever 35 infestation is caused by the failure of the owner to maintain a dwelling in a rodent-proof or 36 vermin-proof condition, extermination shall be the responsibility of the owner. Whenever 37 infestation exists in two or more of the dwelling units in any dwelling, or in the shared or 38 public parts of any dwelling containing two or more dwelling units, extermination shall be 39 the responsibility or the owner. 40 41 RODENT HARBORAGES PROHIBITED IN OCCUPIED AREAS.
