Multiple family dwellings shall be <br /> 2 furnished with door locks as follows: <br /> 3 <br /> 4 (a) Multiple Family Dwelling SecuritySystems. For the purpose of providing a <br /> 5 reasonable amount of safety and general welfare for persons occupying <br /> 6 multiple family dwellings, an approved security system shall be maintained for <br /> 7 each multiple family building to control access. The security system shall <br /> 8 consist of locked building entrance or foyer doors, and locked doors leading <br /> 9 from hallways into individual dwelling units. Dead-latch type door locks shall <br /> 10 be provided with lever knobs (or door knobs) on the inside of building <br /> 11 entrance doors and with key cylinders on the outside of building entrance <br /> 12 doors. Building entrance door latches shall be of a type that are permanently <br /> 13 locked from the outside and permanently unlocked from the inside. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 (b) Dwelling Unit Door Locks. Every door that is designed to provide ingress or <br /> 16 egress for a dwelling unit within a multiple family building shall be equipped <br /> 17 with an approved lock that has a dead-locking bolt that cannot be retracted <br /> 18 by end pressure, however, that such door shall be openable from the inside <br /> 19 without the use of a key or any special knowledge or effect. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 SUMP PUMP WELLS. At the point of sale of a dwelling unit, sump pumps must be <br /> 22 inspected to ensure that they are not connected in any manner to the sanitary sewer system. <br /> 23 If the Compliance Officer determines the sump pump is connected to the sanitary sewer <br /> 24 system, the situation must be corrected before the dwelling unit is considered in compliance <br /> 25 to be sold. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 MULTIPLE DWELLING OUTDOOR WATER SERVICE METERING. Each multiple <br /> 28 dwelling shall have a meter measuring the amount of water used for such outdoor activities <br /> 29 as lawn maintenance, gardening, parking lot cleaning. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR LIGHT AND VENTILATION. No person shall occupy <br /> 32 as owner, occupant or let to another for occupancy any dwelling or dwelling unit, for the <br /> 33 purpose of living.therein, which does not comply with the following requirements: <br /> 34 <br /> 35 HABITABLE ROOM VENTILATION. Except where there is supplied some other device <br /> 36 affording adequate ventilation and approved by the Compliance Official, every habitable <br /> 37 room shall have at least one window facing directly outdoors which can be opened easily. <br /> 38 The minimum total of openable window area in every habitable room shall be in compliance <br /> 39 with minimum standards in the Minnesota Uniform Building Code. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 NONHABITABLE ROOM VENTILATION.
