CHAPTER 4 TRANSPORTATION 92
RAILROADS
Two railroad lines pass through and serve New Brighton. The Soo Line Railway
Company has a mainline track with trains passing through frequently. The track formerly
owned by the Minnesota Transfer Railway Company serves New Brighton on a less frequent
basis and the tracks end in communities that border New Brighton. In most instances, the
track-street crossings are at grade and do not have signals, but just a crossbar warning. (See
Map 14.)
OBJECTIVE: RAILROADS
Provide for the safe and efficient use of railroads by marling all railroad crossings of
minor arterials and collectors with a flashing signal.
POLICY: RAILROADS
Install flashing signals at all railroad crossings of collectors and minor arterials at the
time the affected roads are rebuilt. b
