INTERPRETATION / UUMITS <br /> Representative Projects <br /> GRAND ROUNDS INTERPRETIVE PLAN, MINNEAPOLIS <br /> Historical context for interpretive master plan for the Grand Rounds, a system of <br /> parkways, lakes, and parks that encircles Minneapolis. Extending for over fifty miles, the <br /> Grand Rounds was established in the late nineteenth century and has evolved throughout <br /> the twentieth century. Clients: David L. Dahlquist Associates, Minneapolis Park and <br /> Recreation Board. <br /> PRESERVATION MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING PLAN, MINNESOTA <br /> Assessed cultural resources in the Taconite Tax Relief Area,prepared a preservation plan <br /> for these resources, and identified opportunities for heritage tourism development. <br /> Historic resources included a broad range of agricultural and industrial properties. <br /> Clients: Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB), Northern Lights <br /> Tourism Alliance. <br /> GREAT RIVER ROAD INTERPRETIVE PLAN,WISCONSIN <br /> Developed prototype tour guide for heritage tourism along Wisconsin's Great River <br /> Road, focusing on five historical themes: environment, people, transportation, <br /> occupations, and architecture. The tour guide provided contextual information on the <br /> development of the area, which was dominated by agriculture by the late nineteenth <br /> century. One section described the evolution of barn design in the region. Client: <br /> Wisconsin Department of Transportation. <br /> HISTORY OF MINNESOTA AVIATION, MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA <br /> Exhibit on the civilian and military development of Wold-Chamberlain Field from 1915 <br /> to the present. Developed scenario, wrote text, and selected visuals for an exhibit in the <br /> Lindbergh Terminal of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International _Airport. Clients: <br /> Minneapolis Public Airport Foundation, Metropolitan Airports Commission. <br /> UPPER IOWA UNIVERSITY,FAYETTE, IOWA <br /> Exhibit about the history of this liberal arts college, founded in 1857, for <br /> admissions/alumni center. Clients: Bergh Jensen, Upper Iowa University. <br /> THE SANDPAPER MUSEUM, TWO HARBORS, MINNESOTA <br /> Interpretive plan and museum on the abrasives industry in the Dwan Building, the first <br /> corporate office of Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M). Hess Roise also prepared <br /> a National Register nomination for this simple frame structure,built in 1898. Client: Lake <br /> County Historical Society. <br /> ST. ANTHONY FALLS HERITAGE TRAIL,NIINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA <br /> Interpretive walking tour for the Minneapolis downtown riverfront, formerly the largest <br /> waterpower and flour milling district in the country.
