Childs , City Manager
--------------------------------------------------------------- ----
SUMMARY DISCUSSION OF SUBJECT: As you recal 1 , we advertised for bids on City
insurance to be opened on Monday, May 10, 1982 at 10:00 A.M. As of the date of this
memo I expect only two major bidders (the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance
Trust and the Home Insurance Company) .
• FISCAL IMPACT: Competitive bidding of insurance can and has resulted in substan-
tial savings. Another factor which can have along-term effect on stabilizing costs
is to do just the opposite and inform bidder that if costs remain reasonable, we do
not expect to rebid for three years. We are attempting to use both of '\these
strategies in our process this year.
ALTERNATIVES : To be submitted May 1 1 , 1982.
i
i
RECOMMENDATION: To be submitted May 1 1 , 1982.
• CITY MANAGER' S REVIEW: COMMENTS :
t
