i -
CITY OF ST. ANTHONY
REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION
-------------------=----------------------------------------------------
• Date Submitted Type of Action Requested Agenda Item Number
Resolution
May S, 1982 Ordinance Unfinished Business-4
Date Action Requested X Formal Action/Motion TitleBernhard Preussner
Other
May 11 , 1982 Parking Concerns
---------------------------------------------------------------•---------
TO: Mayor and Councilmen
F ROM: David M. . Childs , City Manager
------------------------------------------------------------------------ ..
SUMMARY DISCUSSION OF SUBJECT: Staff has reviewed the request from Mr.
Preussner to rectify the parking problem in front of his home at 3209 Skycroft.
He has submitted the attached copy of the City of Minneapolis Ordinance with
respect to parking. He states that the law is on the books , but is enforced only
when a complaint is received .
® FISCAL IMPACT: N/A
ALTERNATIVES :
1 . Post signs on Skycroft in advance of sweeping. This will -be a little extra
work and would not solve the problem the rest of the time when sweeping . is not
imminent. It does, however, avoid passage of an ordinance.
2. Pass an ordinance similar to Minneapolis' . A determination would then have to
be made about selective enforcement.
3. Let the neighbors resolve the problem between themselves.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that alternative #1 be chosen for this summer. The. signs could
have a longer term effect than one day and we feel that it is a good compromise
between the two parties.
.CITY MANAGER' S REVIEW: COMMENTS :
