Agenda Item: Reports-3a Status : Informational <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> • <br /> DATE: January 5 , 1983 <br /> TO: Department Heads <br /> Dave Childs , City Manager <br /> FROM: Connie Kroeplin, Secretary <br /> SUBJECT: Staff Meeting Notes - January 4 , 1983 <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ <br /> The meeting began at 9 : 35 A.M. Dave Childs , Don Hickerson, Larry <br /> Hamer, Lee Entner, Ray Nelson and Connie Kroeplin were present. Carol <br /> Johnson was absent. <br /> The "whip around" was begun by Larry Hamer , who had several items for <br /> discussion. There ensued conversation concerning snow plowing during <br /> the recent storm. Mr. Hamer said there were also three watermain <br /> breaks during the New Years weekend. Along those lines , it was noted <br /> the City presently has four 4-wheel drive vehicles for emergency <br /> use. Among these are 2 ambulances , which have not been used for a <br /> long time . Mr. Hamer suggested auctioning these off - they are not <br /> insured and are not used. <br /> • Mr. Hamer also told the other Department Heads , in cases of emergency , <br /> the procedure would be to call his home first, then Herman Weber and, <br /> lastly, the duty man. He also requested that when calling his home , <br /> if he is not there , to leave a message describing the problem. <br /> There was discussion between Mr. Hamer and Chief Hickerson concerning <br /> plowing of Park View parking lot. Mr. Hamer stated the streets were <br /> top priority and Chief Hickerson stated the policemen needed only the <br /> drive in front of their- doors :plowed . Mr . Hamer agreed, saying his <br /> men will use their "common sense" in the solution of this matter. <br /> The OSHA program is now going to be done by Mr. Hamer ,* who requested <br /> cooperation from all the departments in filling out the forms properly- <br /> and on time. Mr. Childs added all forms concerning personnel should <br /> be properly filled out , i.e. , sick leave , injuries on duty , vacation , <br /> etc. <br /> In endeavoring to complete the evaluation process for non-union per- <br /> sonnel, Mr. Childs had previously distributed self-evaluation forms . <br /> Each individual was requested to evaluate him/herself (in confiden- <br /> tiality) and return the forms to Mr.. Childs . He feels the responses <br /> would be of help to him and the individual in pinpointing areas of <br /> strength and/or weakness . <br /> Mr. Childs enumerated items for the Council 's January 11th agenda. <br /> They are : <br /> • (1) Police Reserves will be present. <br /> (.2) Union agreements (:Public Works included in agenda; close to settle- <br /> ment with Firefighters ; Police to mediation) . <br />
