2
• PERSONNEL
The total- department is made up in the following manner:
A. Full time 7
B. Part time 22
C.- Maintenance Reserve 12 (days only)
During 1983 we were allowed an additional full time officer's position
which provides each of the three shifts with an officer. Ken Anderson
was promoted to this position through competition with other members
of the Department.
1983 also saw the implementation of a Fire Relief Program for all
full time and part time personnel. This program provides death and
disability benefits in addition to a deferred compensation of $600
per year of service after serving for twenty years or more. This
program should have a positive effect on the retention of our member-
ship.
APPARATUS
The Apparatus Committee was very busy last year planning the purchase of
a new pumper to replace our 28 year old F.W.D. pumper. We expect
• delivery of the new pumper in the summer of 1984.
Most of our equipment purchases, including the pumper, were made through
a joint purchasing consortium. This purchasing system is unique to
our area and was established and developed by Lee Entner. This joint
purchasing group involves numerous fire departments throughout the
State and realizes not only cost savings through volume buying of
standardized equipment, but also improved quality of equipment due to
a large pool of technical experience.
During 1983 we also purchased 12 air masks which are technically
superior to the ones they replaced. These :air masks will provide a
. significant increase in safety for our firefighters while in a toxic
atomsphere.
Kind
Apparatus Make Year GPM of Pump Stage Engine BHP @RPM
Eng. 6980 General 1972 1250 Waterous 2 671 265 @
Diesel 2300
Eng. 6981 General 1975 1250 Waterous 2 871 350 @
Diesel 2300
Eng. 6982 F.W.D. 1956 750 Waterous 2 Gasoline 212 @
3000
Res. .6990 Chevrolet 19,64 --== . ---- Gasoline 1.70 @
4000
