Columbia Heights, MN 55421 (612) 788-9221 "SERVICE IS OUR BUSINESS" March 5, 1984 Agenda Item: Reports--3f Status : Per Council Mr. Robert Sundland Mayor of St. Anthony 3301 Silver Lake Road St. Anthony, MN 55418 Mayor Sundland: At our regular Council meeting on February 27th, the City Council heard a report from the City Manager regarding the status of a pro- posed project to reconstruct Stinson Boulevard, south of 45th Avenue to Silver Lake Beach. The project would also include needed storm drainage for the area. As you may be aware, our respective City staffs have been discussing this matter with representatives of the Salvation Army Camp. In his report, the City Manager indicated that the Salvation Army was reluctant to participate in the cost of reconstructing Stinson Boulevard. However, the City of Columbia Heights still considers this project to be necessary. In our estimation, such a project would benefit properties in both communities; and since it is a boundary street, we should share equally in the cost of this construction. The Columbia Heights City Council voted to request action on this project by the City Council of St. Anthony. It is our hope and desire that the City of St. Anthony will participate with us by executing a Joint Powers Agreement. As a point of information, our staff has previously provided St. Anthony and the Salvation Army Camp with rough estimates for this project. Final cost estimates have not been calculated since further work on the project is pend- ing concurrence by your City. Again, I take this opportunity to express our interest in proceeding with the reconstruction of Stinson Boulevard from 45th Avenue to Silver Lake Beach.
