It 'was 'formed by.-Metro- Area <br /> Ci.ty.-Officials and is directed by .Metro Area City Officials•. The AMM <br /> is-now beginning its second decade of.-service .to:...metro area cities and <br /> we ­are united by our interest in preserving. the:. -ability.to-serve our . <br /> constauents--and their-needs in the most effective,- efficient., .and- <br /> -<: responsive "manner. All cities in the metro area have many-significant, <br /> common concerns -and'- it is vital for cities to -work together to preserve <br /> the opportunity -for local decision making. <br /> The AAM is a leading force in lobbying- to, preserve .-local. control. We <br /> are tested continuously by the Legislature and Metropolitan Council -in <br /> many areas..- .Whi1e-.,it- is true that the area cities- may differ among <br /> themselves: on some issues, it is important to identify the issues of <br /> commonality (103 policy positions in 1983-84 for,example) that we.-may <br /> work towards jointly, and attempt compromise on others or at least <br /> _ identify 'those' areas that- cities- need- to concentrate what effort_ they- <br /> can on their own. <br /> —on Reinke <br /> ji'dkODc� <br /> The---AMM- is the. vehicle through--which we can share the costs to provide <br /> :: cs Scheibel important information .and-data :which would be too expensive on an individual <br /> c.
