St: Paul 12151-1 2
1
I. AUTHORITY TO REVIEW
The local Area HUD Office has submitted these applications for review and
comment through the Minnesota Intergovernmental Review Process although
HUD policy only requires coordination through the Intergovernmental Review
Process for Section 202 proposals larger than 200 units. The time period
for the Council 's review and comment regarding these applications expires
on June 7, 1984. Since staff review, committee deliberations and mailing
to applicants and Council members could not be cor::pieted for the Council 's
May 24 meeting, an extention of the review period to accommodate the
Council's June 14th meeting date has been requested from HUD.
II. BACKGROUND
The purpose of the Section 202 Program is to provide direct Federal loans
to private nonprofit corporations and consumer cooperatives for the
development of new or substantially rehabilitated housing facilities to
serve elderly, physically handicapped, or developmentally disabled
adults. Participation in the Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments
Program is required for a minimum of 20 percent of the units in any
Section 202 project. Nor-mally, only proposals for subsidy of 100A of the
. units are submitted.
