I <br /> f <br /> s <br /> 3 <br /> 1 been supported by _a group of residents who had approached him and had ` <br /> 2 requested .a meeting with the Executive Director to express the same i <br /> 3 concerns; <br /> 4' -this group included three members of the local Board of Directors of <br /> 5 the Walker project, Sally Haik, Ed Ostberg, and George Wagner; <br /> 6 -he perceived the H.R.A. should hear these concerns now so as not to <br /> 7 delay the process any further timewise. <br /> 8 His comments generated the following response: <br /> 9 Childs: -affirmed that the original project goal for Phase III had <br /> 10 been "condos for all ages" which had changed to "only <br /> 11 seniors" when Arkell had proposed developing only rental; <br /> 12 -confirmed that the three people who the Secretary/Treasurer <br /> 13 mentioned had requested they be allowed to meet with him -and <br /> 14- the Mayor to discuss these concerns; <br /> 15 -said that meeting would be held. <br /> 16 Ranallo: -took exception to the term "senior ghetto" , saying he had <br /> 7 never seen a project like the one described by the Sec- <br /> 8 retary/Treasurer; <br /> 19 -indicated he perceived all concerns about the project would <br /> 20 be aired during the required hearings on the project, <br /> 21 including those of the Minneapolis residents who live in the <br /> 22 triangle adjacent to the project and the owners of-' the Kenz- <br /> 23 ington condominiums; <br /> 24 -told Commissioner Makowske he perceived the point of view <br /> 25 which opposed an all-senior project had been taken into <br /> 26 consideration when Mr. Krier had been directed to go to the <br /> 27 Minneapolis Community Development Agency to negotiate fin- <br /> 28 ancing for 100 1155 and over" and 100 "regular occupancy" <br /> 29 rental units for this project. <br /> 30 Makowske: -agreed, saying she understood the City proposal had also <br /> 31 included -the possibility of having "a completely open <br /> 32 occupancy" . <br /> 33 Enrooth: -questioned "where the people who were"raising the issue of <br /> 34 seniors had been for the past five years. " <br /> 35 Krier: -agreed that the H.R.A. should listen to anyone who wanted to <br /> 36 talk about the project. " <br /> •7 Childs: -commented that, from- what he was hearing that evening, he <br /> 38 had concluded there was support for the type of developer <br /> 39 proposals which had been submitted. <br />
