D HI-RANGER MIDWEST
S.R. 151 N. Box 307
Kieler, WI 53812 (608) 568-3434
February 8, 1989
SAINT ANTHONY VILLAGE
3301 Silver Lake Road
St. Anthony, Minnesota 55418
Mr. Larry Hamer, Director of Public Works
Acceptions to the specifications as written:
Hi-Ranger Midwest could not deliver a completed unit within 60 days after
recieving this order. We will do everything we can to expidite this order
but will not be able to comply with your 60 day requirement.
Enclosed you will find literature and diagrams with dimensions of the 5FA-52 .
unit which we are bidding. This unit is 52' ground to bottom of basket.
Hi-Ranger Midwest will have a representative at your location to put this
unit in service as well as trace your people how to properly operate and
care for the machine.
The Hi-Ranger aerial device has a FULL (1) ONE YEAR WARRENTY on parts as
well as service.
• The 5FA-52PBI model unit is not an overcenter machine, however, the lower
boom does travel 105 degrees to give you a side reach of 35' 1". One
advantage to the configuration of the Hi-Ranger is both hydraulic cylinders
are located where they can be serviced from the flatbed of the chassis no
matter what the articulation of the booms may be. This can become extrem&_ly
important if it becomes necessary to manually lower the booms by bleeding
check valves, for example, a major supply hose bursts, the check valve closes
and you have a man in the air. At this point the emergency lowering does
the operator no good, the only way down is to manually bleed the cylinders.
With the location of our cylinders it is very simple and not time consuming.
On some units the upper boom lift cylinder is located at the elbow and may
require getting a second truck to bleed down the upper boom.
I would wish that after you have had a chance to study the information of
all the units bid you will understand hoar the Hi-Ranger aerial tower is
quite different in design and why we choose to keep it that way. Hi-Rangers
have been built since the late 1950's and have a very good history as far as
safety and reliability. We have many units still in operation which are
over 25 .years old, which I may add was before most of the units now built
wereeever introduced to the market place.
The following is a comprehensive listing of your specifications compared to
the unit I propose to sell your City.
• Thank You for your interest in Hi-Ranger,
"'v &
Darrell Messman
