Representative McGuire reiterated her defense of her own
23 votes, indicating she perceived the implications related to those votes
24 as well as the effect on St. Anthony's levy limit base had been
25 erroneous.
26 The Representative said she would be attending an early morning caucus
27 on the legislation which would be proposed during the Special
28 Legislative Session that week and would carry the City's concerns about
29 the effect of that legislation to that caucus.
30 Councilmember Ranallo had indicated his objections to the City being
31 forced to "use it or lose it" when it came to the levy limit base which
32 he perceived could lead to irresponsible use of tax revenues just
33 because they're available.
34 Councilmember Marks speculated that changes in the property taxes might
35 result in more regressive total state taxes for St. Anthony residents,
36 if tax rates on homes over $100,000.00 are raised. That "philosophical
37 concept" would also be presented for discussion during the caucus,
38 Representative McGuire said.
2 •
