Regular Council Meeting <br /> June 26, 1990 <br /> page 12 • <br /> 1 Councilmember Makowske attended a Youth Service Bureau meeting last <br /> 2 week. She noted that being added to their regular services is an <br /> 3 adolescent health care center which will be located in Roseville. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 Mayor Ranallo advised that Auto Trac on 37th Avenue and Silver Lake <br /> 6 Road is requesting a special sign which will remain up for ninety <br /> 7 days. He noted that the St. Anthony Shopping Center is making a <br /> 8 similar request . The Mayor inquired if the Councilmembers felt <br /> 9 these requests should go before the Planning Commission . <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Councilmember Marks was of the opinion these requests should be <br /> 12 considered by the Planning Commission but the Council should be <br /> 13 kept apprised of what the Planning Commission' s position is on <br /> 14 each request . <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Mayor Ranallo felt the reason for these requests was for more <br /> 17 visibility. Councilmember Enrooth agreed noting that business <br /> 18 is down which is a reflection of the economy. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 The Mayor advised the Council that the residents of Autumn Woods <br /> 21 have indicated their intention to establish a memorial to Bob <br /> 22 Sundland in the form of a tree planted in his memory. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Mayor Ranallo attended the recent meeting of the St. Anthony Chamber • <br /> 25 of Commerce Board of Directors . He noted the Chamber ' s members are <br /> 26 interested in participating in the Village Fest. The Chamber is holding <br /> 27 a golf tournament on July 20th, the first day of the Village Fest , <br /> 28 and has requested contributions to the tournament . <br /> 29 <br /> 30 The Mayor noted that at the last Iea1sIative session approval for <br /> 31 Councilmembers to participate in the City' s deferred compensation <br /> 32 plan was given. The Mayor suggested if there were any Council - <br /> 33 members interested in participating they should contact the City' s <br /> 34 Finance Director. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Mayor Ranallo has received phone calls regarding a compost pile in <br /> 37 the City. He requested the Assistant to the City Manager to write <br /> 38 an article addressing this matter for the next City newsletter. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 A Council work session is scheduled for July 3rd at 7:00 p.m. . <br /> 41 <br /> 42 The City Manager showed the Council some of the handout materials <br /> 43 he received at the D .A.R.E . meeting. He advised that he and the <br /> 44 Police Chief will be discussing the D .A.R.E . program with civic <br /> L; groups with the intention of receiving support for the program. <br /> 46 There will be a tent at the Village Fest with D.A.R.E . materials <br /> 47 and information regarding the program. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 The City Manager advised that the room in the City Hall building <br /> 50 designated as a meeting room is ready for occupancy , but the City <br />
