City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> July 22, 1997 <br /> • Page 13 <br /> 1 6. Staffing Issues. <br /> 2 Mornson reported the Building Inspector deadline was July 25. There are three candidates, <br /> 3 two are individuals and the third is the City of New Brighton. A recommendation will be <br /> 4 made at the September 2 work session. The Public Works position deadline is September 9. <br /> 5 The first session of union negotiations for police, fire, and public works will be held in <br /> 6 August. <br /> 7 7. Sunset Memorial Cemetery Request. <br /> 8 Mornson reported Sunset Memorial Cemetery has expressed an interest in constructing a <br /> 9 funeral home on their site. The cemetery is located in a residential district and currently is <br /> 10 non-conforming. City Attorney has recommended that they petition the City to rezone the <br /> 11 area to recreational open space and change the verbiage to permit funeral homes provided <br /> 12 they are attached to the cemetery. <br /> 13 Mornson noted a memo from Liquor Operations Manager, Michael Larson in regard to the <br /> 14 purchase of a cash machine for the Stonehouse. A low bid of$7,495 has been received. This <br /> 15 would require a cash outlay of$3,000 and the remaining balance would be paid through <br /> 16 transaction fees. Mr. Larson has stated the addition of the cash machine would result in a <br /> 17 gross profit of $2,100 per month. Mornson noted the authorization to proceed is needed from <br /> 8 the Council as it is necessary to sign a lease. <br /> There was Council consensus for Liquor Operations Manager to proceed with the purchase of <br /> 20 a cash machine for the Stonehouse. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 VIII. PUBLIC HEARINGS - None. <br /> 23 IX. NEW BUSINESS - Continued. <br /> 24 B. Appoint Members and Council Representative to the Storm Drainage Task Force. <br /> 25 Motion by Enrooth, second by Faust to appoint the residents who volunteered to the Storm <br /> 26 Drainage Task Force, including the two volunteered this evening and Councilmembers <br /> 27 Enrooth and Faust. <br /> 28 Mayor Ranallo noted he would attend the meetings if either Councilmember was unavailable. <br /> 29 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 30 C. Discussion of First Meeting Agenda of the Storm Drainage Task Force. <br /> 31 Mornson noted a proposed agenda for the first meeting of the Storm Drainage Task Force. <br /> 32 He stated it would be appropriate for the Task Force to develop their own Mission Statement <br /> 33 and that the facilitator will be determined at the first meeting. Mornson noted he will forward <br /> 34 all information available to Task Force members prior to the meeting. <br /> Mornson reported he will be meeting with Barr Engineering and WSB on Tuesday, July 29 <br /> 6 -from 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. <br />
