Bernard Preussner, for 3209 Skycroft Drive; Variance for Fence Height.
Commissioner Bergstrom reported the Planning Commission held a public hearing on
September 16, to consider a request by Bernard Preussner for a 10 foot variance to the City
Ordinance limiting a fence in an R-1 District to 8 feet. Mr. Preussner is proposing to build a
fence 18 feet in height and 125 feet in length.
The situation which led up to this request was that the property owner located to the north of
the applicant had an air conditioning unit which was very noisy and was located in an L-
shaped area which reflected the sound toward Mr. Preussner's house. Mr. Preussner measured
the noise to be over 60 decibels. Reportedly, upon consulting the neighbor to the north, Mr.
Preussner was given a set of ear plugs and was told to move from his master bedroom. The
noise from the air conditioner has increased this summer as a result of the removal of a metal
shed that was located between the two properties. •
