City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> August 25, 1998 <br /> Page 4 <br /> 1 problems will be solved without any disruption to residents. ,He welcomed Representative <br /> 2 . Mary Jo McGuire and Commissioner Stenglein to the address.the Council. <br /> 3 Ms. McGuire commended the City Council for their diligence at the State Capitol in bringing <br /> 4 St. Anthony's flooding issues to the forefront. She stated each Councilmember worked closely <br /> 5 with her in communicating the importance of these issues to the legislature. She added the <br /> 6 financial support offered today would not have been possible without the efforts of the City <br /> 7 Council. She also thanked the DNR for their support. <br /> 8 Ms. McGuire stated she has been approached by numerous citizens voicing their concerns with <br /> 9 respect to flood relief efforts. She hopes through cooperation with the City Council, the issues <br /> 10 will be resolved. <br /> 11 Commissioner Stenglein applauded the efforts of the City Council and the DNR and thanked <br /> 12 Ms. McGuire for her hard work. He stated this type of community action is necessary and <br /> 13 effective, and added he is proud to represent the community of St. Anthony. He stated the <br /> 14 County is committed to supporting the City's flood relief efforts. <br /> 15 Mayor Ranallo thanked all parties involved for their efforts in obtaining the relief funds. <br /> 16 B. Planning Commission - August 18, 1998. <br /> 17 Mayor Ranallo welcomed Planning Commission Chair'Bergstrom, who presented the minutes <br /> 18 from the August 18, 1998 Planning Commission meeting. He stated a few commentary items <br /> 19 related to the public hearing were omitted but will be included in the amended minutes. He <br /> 20 stated other than those few omissions, the general essence of the meeting was captured. <br /> 21 1. Jensen; for 2908 Roosevelt Street; garage setback request. <br /> 22 Commissioner Bergstrom reported a public hearing was held at the August 18, 1998 <br /> 23 meeting for Robert and Doreen Jensen, owners of 2908 Roosevelt Street NE. Mr. and <br /> 24 Mrs. Jensen have submitted a request fora Garage Setback Permit in order to construct <br /> 25 a detached double car garage. There is currently a single car garage attached to the <br /> 26 residence. The Jensen are proposing to remodel the house and construct the detached <br /> 27 garage set back from the primary structure 23 feet so they can store other miscellaneous <br /> 28 vehicles and equipment. <br /> 29 According to the drawing submitted by Mr. Jensen, the proposed garage will be <br /> 30 constructed in the sideyard setback located on the north side of the property, leaving <br /> 31 three feet to the property line. Front and rear setbacks will be maintained according to <br /> 32 the requirements of the City's Zoning Ordinance. Staff advised Mr. Jensen to talk with <br /> 33 his neighbors about his proposed garage construction. <br />
