City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> June 22, 1999 <br /> Page 6 <br /> 1 report on the meeting during the following month to allow the Council time to review the <br /> 2 minutes. Faust stated that would be unwise. Mornson stated that some requests require action <br /> 3 and resolution within 60 days of application. Cavanaugh reiterated that it would be helpful for <br /> 4 the Council to review the full minutes prior to the Council meeting. <br /> 5 C. Councilmembers. <br /> 6 Faust reported on his attendance at the League of Minnesota Cities' annual conference which <br /> 7 was an outstanding affair with interesting speakers and good sessions. He noted that he and <br /> 8 Thuesen sat with the mayor of Comfrey, Minnesota, a community which has experienced many <br /> 9 serious problems over the past year. <br /> 10 Thuesen reported on his attendance at the League's annual conference, stating the conference <br /> 11 topics were beneficial. He stated that he would bring follow-up information to an upcoming <br /> 12 worksession for the Council's review. He added the conference was a humbling experience for <br /> 13 him as a new councilmember, and he came away energized with new ideas to utilize within the <br /> 14 community. <br /> 15 Ranallo noted that the reporting councilmembers each attended 1 day of the conference, and <br /> 16 expressed the importance of attendance each year. . <br /> 17 Faust noted that the City of Comfrey, Minnesota is celebrating.its 100th anniversary this <br /> 18 summer, and commended the many dedicated souls who rebuilt the community. <br /> 19 Cavanaugh reported on his attendance at a meeting between the Northwest Family Services <br /> 20 Board and the Chemical Health Coalition at which mutual assistance was discussed. He noted <br /> 21 that, from the City's perspective, there are.other uses for the Board than just school-oriented <br /> 22 issues. <br /> 23 Cavanaugh reported on his attendance at a recent organizational meeting for VillageFest, plans <br /> 24 for which are progressing in a timely manner. He added a silent auction will be held to assist <br /> 25 with funding for this event. <br /> 26 Cavanaugh reported that he represented the City at the recent Sister.City community picnic in <br /> 27 honor of the Rivakat Dance Group. He stated the picnic was a success and a lot of fun, although <br /> 28 it perhaps could have been held at a more visible site, such as the shopping center, rather than the <br /> 29 Central Park pavilion which is not easily visible. He expressed his belief in the organization and <br /> 30 his desire to see it integrated into the community. <br /> 31 Cavanaugh presented a stuffed animal which was given to Barry Kinsey along with a unique flag <br /> 32 from Salo, Finland. He thanked Mr. Kinsey for his organizational efforts on behalf of the Sister <br /> 33 City organization. <br />
