City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> June 26, 2001 <br /> Page 4 <br /> I a Jail Model. <br /> 2 Mayor Cavanaugh complimented Ms.Wiessner on the Silver Lake Road Project. He also commented <br /> 3 on the rumored closing of the library in Arden Hills.Ms.Wiessner stated that there is always a lot of talk <br /> 4 about that issue, when the County examines their budget. <br /> 5 Mayor Cavanaugh commented on the new jail in Hennepin County,and stated that it cost residents an <br /> 6 outrageous amount of money. He expressed his concern over the steady increase of building prisons. <br /> 7 Mayor Cavanaugh thanked Ms. Wiessner for coming. <br /> s Ms. Wiessner thanked the Council, and asked that they call her with any questions, or concerns. <br /> 9 VIII. CONSENT AGENDA. <br /> 1.0 Motion by Councilmember Sparks to approve the Consent Agenda. Said Consent Agenda consisted <br /> 11 of: <br /> 12 1. Council Regular Meeting Minutes—May 22, 2001; <br /> 13 2. Council Study Session Minutes—June 12, 2001; - <br /> 14 3. Licenses/Permits; and <br /> 15 4. Claims. <br /> 16 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 17 IX. PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br /> 18 None. <br /> 19 X. GENERAL POLICY BUSINESS OF THE COUNCIL. <br /> 20 A. Northwest Quadrant update (John Shardlow, DSU, will be present, see attached summary <br /> 21 document prepared by DSU). <br /> 22 Mayor Cavanaugh stated that they seem to be getting somewhere on the Project, as there a fewer <br /> 23 updates. He indicated that John Shardlow's June 20`h letter stated that, in July, there would be a line <br /> 24 set in the sand. Mayor Cavanaugh added that the Council has a document of decisions that will lay out <br /> 25 the acceptability of the future of the city. He concluded by saying that tonight is their opportunity to <br /> 26 flush out the specifics of some of the critical issues, so that, come July, they can get closer to the <br /> 27 concluding step. <br /> 28 Craig Rapp, managing principle of DSU, introduced himself to the Council. Mr. Rapp stated that, <br /> 29 where they are in the process, is that all of the data has been collected and now it will be placed into a <br /> 30 report for them within thirty days. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Mr. Rapp stated that they will be in the position to make some choices, and strongly recommended that . <br />
