2002 Work Plan <br /> It is important to be forward thinking. Our department strives to be proactive rather than <br /> reactive. In this light, we have identified the following goals for 2002: <br /> • Work with Hennepin County on the electronic transfer of citation <br /> data. <br /> • Create a new uniform police report to encompass, ICR, offense, and <br /> arrest information on one report form. <br /> • Work with BCA and establish Internet connectivity to begin utilizing <br /> ' the new Minnesota Repository of Arrest Photographs. <br /> • Begin officer initiated research on implementing voice recognition <br /> technology. <br /> ' • Work with Metro State on providing internships for law enforcement <br /> students. <br /> ' • Implement a "less-lethal" policy and training program for less lethal <br /> impact devices. <br /> • Improve and modify school intruder policies and continue to complete <br /> school intruder drills. <br /> • Implement the new Hennepin County 800 megahertz radio system and <br /> train officers in its use. <br /> • Strive to keep officer turnover to a minimum level while keeping <br /> morale high. <br /> • Continue to work with the Community Prevention Collision. <br /> • Continue to provide contractual police services to Falcon Heights and <br /> Lauderdale in order to increase resources and offset St. Anthony <br /> taxpayer liability. <br /> • Complete all Use of Force training in-house utilizing our own <br /> instructors. <br /> • Continue efforts to meet all state and federal training mandates. <br /> • Work with local, county, state, and federal agencies on responses to <br /> terrorism to include biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons of <br /> mass destruction. <br /> • Transition new DARE Officer to teach the 2001/2002 school year. <br /> • Maintain department personnel strength to deal with and implement <br /> terrorism response for the city, and maintain our reduction in crime <br /> rate. <br /> 1 15 <br />
