City Council Regular Meeting Minutes 3 <br /> December 9, 2002 <br /> Page 3 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 Mayor Horst stated that he feels the services he gets as a resident are a good value for what is <br /> 3 paid,noting the importance of the safety of the streets and residents homes in cases of fires or <br /> 4 emergencies. He added that there would be tough questions posed to them as a Council <br /> 5 concerning cuts that might come from the Budget cuts and suggested a town informational <br /> 6 meeting. He stated that the City has a very competent Staff who manages costs and feels that <br /> 7 they would continue to do so in the future. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Councilmember Thuesen agreed with the Mayor and stated that the Council cares deeply for the <br /> 10 community as does Staff. He explained that decisions from the State Capital might pose some <br /> 11 difficult decisions from the Council and Staff,but stated that he feels these decisions would be <br /> 12 handled correctly. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 VI. REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONS AND STAFF. <br /> 17 Mr. Mornson stated he had nothing to report. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 <br /> 20 VII. GENERAL POLICY BUSINESS OF THE COUNCIL. <br /> 21 A. Resolution 02-073, re: Planning Commission appointments. <br /> 22 Mayor Hodson stated they had three interviews for the Planning Commission appointments. He <br /> 23 announced that Kim Tillmann and Joel Stromgren have been appointed to three terms on the St. <br /> 24 Anthony Planning Commission. Mayor Hodson stated it was a difficult decision an d he wanted <br /> 25 to thank all of the candidates. - <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Motion by Councilmember Horst to adopt Resolution 02-073, re: Planning Commission <br /> 28 appointments. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 VIII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> 33 Mr. Mornson reported that this is the last meeting of the year and that the first meeting in 2003 <br /> 34 would be on January 14. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Councilmember Horst reported that he attended the Community Services Board last week. He <br /> 37 said the discussions dealt with budget cuts and what will happen with adult education cuts in the <br /> 38 future. He also attended the Parks Commission meeting last week and reported there was a <br /> 39 presentation by the Three Rivers Parks regarding the Salvation Army Parks. He stated there <br /> 40 were discussions about the danger of having a warming house in left field. He believes a <br /> 41 meeting last week resolved the issue to move the warming house. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Councilmember Sparks had nothing to report. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Councilmember Thuesen had nothing to report. <br /> 46 <br />
