r r Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes May 19, 1998 Page 8 1 Chair Bergstrom stated that everyone in the City of St. Anthony would like Robodyne to stay in 2 the community. The City Council and the Planning Commission would prefer Robodyne to 3 locate in.the industrial park because this is the type of business that area is designed for. He 4 stated that if there were some way the City could help make this possible he would prefer to 5 explore that option. 6 Mr. Alvitd stated he would like to discuss the opportunity. He stated he would need a building of 7 at least 20,000 square feet. He noted the T.K. Grey building is 37,000 square feet but has 8 structural problems. His goal is to remain in the City of St. Anthony and move the least distance 9 possible. 10 Commissioner Gondorchin asked Mr. Alvitd if he planned to purchase the Town& Country 11 building. He stated that he had no problem with mixing industrial.and retail business but 12 expressed concern that Robodyne may locate in the Town& Country building and in 3-5 years 13 the building may be slated to be demolished. 14 Mr. Alvitd explained that the Town& Country building is one big cavern with nothing in it. It 15 will require approximately $72,000 to setup and refurbish the building. Part of the agreement 16 with Krause Anderson is to allow the space to be leased for a period of 5 years to allow for 17 modifications. Within 5 years, he will have the right to purchase the building and a portion of 18 the lease will be applied as a down payment. 19 The Commission directed Ms. Moore-Sykes to discuss the possible use of TIF funds with the 20 City Manager and Mr. Alvitd to contact Ms. Moore-Sykes tomorrow. 21 22 B. Status of Comprehensive Plan Update. 23 1. Water Conservation Plan. 24 Ms. Moore-Sykes reported the Rice Creek Watershed District has approved the City's Water 25 Conservation Plan. 26 2. Storm Water and Soil Erosion Plan. 27 Ms. Moore-Sykes reported the Metropolitan Council is requiring the City to pass a Storm Water 28 and Soil Erosion Ordinance. The City has agreed to pass such an Ordinance and the City 29 Manager is working on a draft of this Ordinance with Todd Hubmer of WSB. 30 Chair Bergstrom asked if the Planning Commission would be involved with the language of the 31 Storm Water and Soil Erosion Ordinance. 32 Ms. Moore-Sykes explained that the Planning Commission will be involved with the Ordinance. 33 If there are no other problems,the Comprehensive Plan Update will be approved within 60 days. 34 Commissioner Gondorchin asked if the Ordinance will restrict a homeowner as to the amount of 35 driveway allowed.
