Section 430:00 <br /> Page 6 <br /> Subd. 14. Signs affixed to utility poles and fences. <br /> Subd. 15. Signs which emit sound, odor or visible matter. <br /> Subd. 16-. Animated signs. <br /> Subd. 17. Flashing signs. <br /> Subd. 18. Signs attached to a vehicle parked primarily for use as a sign. <br /> Subd. 19. Billboards. <br /> Section 430:35: Signs Requiring No Permits: signs described in this section , if <br /> they meet all other requirements of this ordinance, may be erected without a sign <br /> permit. <br /> Subd. 1 . Freestanding political campaign signs erected on private property, <br /> not exceeding a sign surface area of 16 square feet each, which are <br /> erected by a bona fide candidate for political office or by a 'person <br /> or group supporting such a candidate and which contain the name of <br /> the person or group chairman responsible for the erection and <br /> removal of the sign , may be displayed on private property for a <br /> period of not more than four weeks prior to the pertinent election <br /> date and not more than five days after that election date. <br /> Subd. 2. Directional signs having a surface area not greater than 5 square <br /> feet. • <br /> Subd. . 3. Signs denoting the architect, engineer , or contractor , when placed <br /> upon work under construction , provided that the total sign surface <br /> area of all such signs does not exceed the greater of 12 square feet <br /> or a ratio of one square foot of sign surface per 100 square feet <br /> of floor space in the construction project, up to a maximum of <br /> 32 square feet. <br /> Subd. 4. Memorial signs or tablets , or names of buildings anddate of erection <br /> when cut into a masonry surface or constructed of metal or stone and <br /> attached to the building , not exceeding a 'sign surface area of <br /> 4 square feet. <br /> Subd. 5. One identification sign per residential dwelling unit , which <br /> sign shall not exceed a sign surface area of 4 square feet per <br /> surface and shall have no more than two sign surfaces , and one <br /> address sign on the curb in front of each dwelling unit. <br /> Subd. 6. Signs which do not have a sign surface area in excess of 32 square <br /> feet and which are erected or displayed for a period of time not <br /> to exceed 30 days in any year. <br /> Subd. 7. Freestanding signs for garage sales or similar events occurring <br /> within the corporate limits of the City, not exceeding 4 square <br /> feet in sign surface area., erected on private property with <br /> permission of the land owner, and displayed for not more than • <br /> 3 consecutive days. <br />
