MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: May 13, 1983 <br /> TO: Planning Commission Members <br /> FROM: Larry Hamer, Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Sign Variance - 2530 Harding Street N.E. <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> Mr. Russell- Underhill has requested a variance to attach a sign <br /> which would more clearly identify his business at 2530 Harding <br /> Street onto the existing sign standards . The existing- sign has <br /> been improperly maintained for the past several years necessitating <br /> notifying the owners of its condition. Also, a "For Lease" sign, <br /> • - simi-lar:- to th-e• requested sign;-wa-s- -improper,ly instal7led--and is- in- <br /> poor condition. <br /> Approval of this request would create a precedent for other commer- <br /> cial .businesses . If the request is approved, I would recommend <br /> an agreement emphasizing proper maintenance on the existing sign <br /> and area. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Recommend sign variance request be denied due to possible dif- <br /> ficulties which could arise by establishment of a precedent <br /> such as this . <br /> LH/cjk <br />
