ST. ANTHONY CHEMICAL ABUSE INFORMATION COMMITTEE - OCTOBER 9, 1984 <br /> Members Present: Jean Klosterman, Jan Stroom, Shelley .Freeman, Karen Thorsen-Quinn and <br /> Don Hickerson. <br /> 1 <br /> Minutes: Amended to change December meeting date-to December 4th. <br /> 2. Treasurer 's Report: None. There is a balance of $672.30. The City will be awarding <br /> $1,200 after the first of the year. <br /> 3. Old Business: <br /> A. Shelley reported two people responded to the request for new members for the Chemical <br /> Awareness Committee, which appeared in the Focus. They are: <br /> Mr. T.J. Fruth, who is a wine salesman and has a son in the High School . <br /> Mrs. Schmeling, who works for the Renaissance Treatment Center in Coon Rapids and has <br /> a daughter in the Middle School . <br /> Dave Childs will have two new members for the Committee in approximately one month. g <br /> e <br /> B. A motion was passed changing the name of our committee to St. Anthony Chemical <br /> Awareness Committee. (The former name will be retained on the bank records, tax g <br /> excempt applications, etc. ) , <br /> C. Shelley reported that a beautiful fall centerpiece was given to Evelyn Holthus <br /> as a going away gift. <br /> ;Y <br /> D. Shelley will be contacting John Sullivan of the Youth Service Bureau to see if } <br /> the Ad Hoc Advisory Task Force is necessary and to have members in attendance if <br /> • required . <br /> E. Other - No other business. <br /> 4. New Business: <br /> A. Shelley reported that Jim Malrick talked to Middle School children for 40 minutes <br /> concerning his experience with chemicals and responded to questions after the presenta- <br /> tion. Shelley reported that the kids responded very well and that the presentation <br /> was excellent. As a result of the presentation he will be speaking to the High School !� <br /> kids on Friday and he will be leading a Health Awareness Group with Shelley. <br /> Shelley reported that groups will also be formed on "Dealing With Divorce in the Family" <br /> and "Coping With a Loss". <br /> B. Shelley will be contacting Roseville regarding the "Concerned Parents Make a <br /> Difference" pamphlet they distributed to see if copies can be obtained, information <br /> reprinted, etc. If they allow her to reprint information from it, she will put <br /> selected articles in the Focus on a regular basis. Shelley will also compile a list <br /> of things parents can do to stop drinking parties they are aware of. The lists will <br /> possibly be published in the City Newsletter. <br /> Our main goal for the remainder of the year is to get information to members of the <br /> community. <br /> C.
