MEMORANDUM <br /> DAB E : April 21 , 1987 <br /> ''O _ David Childs,- City Manager <br /> Department Heads <br /> FROM m Connie Kroeplin <br /> 2'°EL01 s STAFF MEETING NOTES - APRIL 21, 1987 <br /> The meeting began - at 10:00 A.M. Those present were Carol <br /> Johnson, Dave Childs, Larry Hamer, Lee Entner, and Connie <br /> Kroeplin. Don Hickerson arrived late and Ray Nelson was absent. <br /> Carol Johnson <br /> 1. Discussed the new electronic voting machines. . She and <br /> Mr. Hamer plan on going to observe the machines when they are <br /> put in use in Rochester ( first part of May) . Mrs. John- <br /> son feels that counting both absentee and write-in ballots <br /> will be much easier with -the new machine. The 'old voting <br /> machines are not proving easy to dispose of. Mr. Hamer <br /> thought perhaps the unions should be contacted to see if <br /> they would have use for them. <br /> Larry Hamer <br /> 1 . Thanked the fire' and police departments for their assistance <br /> Easter weekend when the City ran short of water and resi- <br /> dents needed to be notified not to sprinkle. lawns, .etc. <br /> on Monday '( 4/20/87 ) an odd/even sprinkling went into effect. <br /> This appears to be working fine. The sooner Well #5 is <br /> charged to electronic power ( interruptible system) , the <br /> better for our water system. This is scheduled for 1988. <br /> 2. The hazardous materials response vehicle has been redone <br /> (paint, body work, etc. ) and returned to the City of Fridley. <br /> 3 . Tear down work has been completed .at the liquor store and <br /> Mr. Hamer feels the repair work will proceed at a much faster <br /> pace. <br /> 4. The Village Townhomes are now complete. <br /> 5 . The Kenzington has asked for a pedestrian crosswalk directly <br /> in front of their building. Mr. Childs indicated the signals <br /> will be there so, that will probably, be fine. other cross_- <br /> walks ,will be located in front of Lowry Grove and at <br /> Coolidge. Sales. at the Kenzington have picked, up quite a <br /> bit. <br /> Connie Kroeplin <br /> 1 . St. Anthony and New Brighton are co-sponsoring a MuniciPals <br /> banquet on Wednesday ( 4/22/87 ) . It will be held at the <br /> Atrium in the International Market Square (old Munsingwear <br /> building) . Mayor Sundland will welcome the group of about <br /> 500 municipal office workers. <br />
