Resident makeup. City has an extremely high mobile segment as
17 compared to other first ring suburbs;
18 St. Anthony is an aging, middle income, white collar community of
09 which 36% of those interviewed were new to the community within
20 the last two years and 31% intended to move within the next year;
21 most of these were renters in the northern apartment areas and
22 many of them indicated they would like to find permanent homes
23 in the southern sections.
24 2. Quality of life rated excellent. Mr. Morris said this gave
25 St. Anthony the most solid rating of any community their firm had
26 surveyed in the metropolitan Twin Cities area, including "boom"
27 areas like Egan, Woodbury, Shoreview, who get better coverage but
28 are rated less positively by their residents than St. Anthony in
29 this respect;
30 80% take pride in their City; 3/4ths of the residents felt things
31 going in the right direction, and 93% view the City as a good
32 place to raise children;
33 health and vitality of community rated as one of the strongest
34 in the metropolitan area and clearly distinguishes the City
35 from lower norms for other first ring- suburban communities.
36 3 . Location and small town spirit are key draws. One resident' s
37 classification of St. Anthony as "a small town close to a big
38 City" summed up most of the respondents' attitudes. Thirty per-
+ 39 cent of these indicated they were St. Anthony boosters , which
15
