FPOH BiRP EHGII;EEEItJG U
1/03/92 •
Larry Hamer,
We neglected to include an item for riprap and filter in the bid sheet
for Highcrest Street storm sewer. The Contractor, Mr. Jedlicki has proposed
a price of $1950. This compares favorably with the prices previously bid;
Rice Lake Contracting $500
C.S. McCrossen $3600
Lametti + Sons $1200
Average $1767
It is usual for prices in Modifications to be higher than bid prices.
This is because Modifications by law are supposed to be a ' fair and
reasonable price' which is higher than the ' lowest possible price' that
results from the competitive bidding process. I would recommend you accept •
the proposed price,
The additional costs for removal of the two extra segments of unstable
arch pipe will consist of 12 more feet of pipe at the bid price (about $1500)
and a small additional charge for demolition.
I spoke with Denny Palmer about grouting of voids and repair of spalling
on the pipe invert. We have some people with extensive experience in concrete
repair using epoxies and other materials. I will try to talk with them today.
Denny is of the mind that because the void is such a small job relatively
speaking that it may not be economical to do much study, but just go in and
fix it. I tend to agree with him.
Dana Gauthier
•
